* Idea in ellipsis could be understood to be, ‘As we give our bread to the poor and hungry.’ See supporting Old Testament verses below:

  • Psalm 105:40 — The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
  • Psalm 132:15 — I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
  • Proverbs 22:9 — He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
  • Ecclesiastes 11:1 — Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
  • Isaiah 58:7 — Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
