C — You must Begin at the Bottom
a. When you climb up a ladder,
b. you must begin at the bottom [rung*].
c. [You have got to find the beginning of the history*] and [go on*]

e. ascend step by step, until you arrive
f. at the top;
a. and so it is with the principles of the Gospel
b. you must begin with the first,
c. and go on
d. [Ellipsis]
e. until you learn
f. all the principles of exaltation.
a. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil
b. before you will have learned them [to understand the last*].
c. It is not all to be comprehended in this world;
d. it will be a great work [thing*]
e. to learn
f. our salvation and exaltation even beyond the grave.
a. I suppose I am not allowed to go into an investigation
b. of anything that is not contained in the Bible.
c. If I do [should*], I think there are so many [learned and*] over-wise men here, that they would cry “treason”
d. and put me to death [for treason].
e. So I will [then*] go to the old Bible
f. and turn commentator today.
